Alix MAC Cell Phone Policy
Dear Parents/Guardians:
New to Alberta Schools this year is the Ministerial Order that limits the use of PMD’s (personal mobile device) within schools, the full order is linked here and thus as a result school boards have created administrative policies to ensure this order is put into place. Wolf Creek Public Schools has created the following administrative procedure AP 145 to give guidance for individual schools to implement this order.
Furthermore Alix MAC School has developed the following protocols to ensure compliance with the ministerial order:
1st- If a student is seen with their PMD during instructional time they will be asked to put their PMD in their locker or pocket
2nd- If a student is seen with their PMD a second time during instructional time they will be asked to bring their PMD to the office where it will remain for the rest of the day
3rd- If a student has had their PMD brought to the office more than once, school administration will contact parents to make a plan for retrieval of the PMD
4th- If administration observes a student on their PMD during instructional time (in the hallway) their PMD will come up to the office for the remainder of the day
5th- If students are leaving class to use the washroom they will not be able to be on their PMD during this time as well as it is still considered instructional time.
*Exemptions to this rule can include medical needs for a PMD and thus this information will placed within the students individual program plan and or if the teacher is allowing students to use their PMD as an educational tool for the lesson
-In addition students will have access to their PMD’s during their lunch hour from 11:45-12:30 as this is considered non instructional time
